About the Vegetarian Society and the Vegetarian Society Cookery School
About the Vegetarian Society
The Vegetarian Society is a charity and the place to go for everything you want to know about vegetarian food. Our mission is to inspire, inform and enable people to be vegetarian.
Some of our recent work includes:
Our food bank appeal
With many people losing their jobs or being paid less, the amount of people needing to use food banks has increased dramatically. The Vegetarian Society is helping to tackle this problem by sending out food boxes. We have now sent thousands of veggie meals to people using food banks across the UK and plan to send many more.
Giving vegetarians a voice
We represent our members' views to leading supermarkets, companies and policymakers. We represented members’ views at a House of Lords select committee on the proposed EU ban on meat-related terms when describing vegetarian and vegan food. The committee were so convinced by members' arguments, they suggested to the Minister of Agriculture to reject the bill.
Every online class you buy helps us to continue the great work we do!
About the Vegetarian Society Cookery School
The Vegetarian Society Cookery School is part of the Vegetarian Society charity and the home of vegetarian and vegan cooking. Our tutors have years of experience in teaching, nutrition and the catering industry. As well as our online classes, we offer face to face cookery experiences at our school, based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. (Please note, due to COVID-19, face to face cookery classes are not currently running.)
Our charity work:
We work alongside a number of charities and community groups to deliver bespoke cookery courses. For individuals struggling to find opportunities to train as veggie chefs, we help to provide places on our Foundation Certificate in Vegetarian and Vegan Cooking and our Professional Chefs’ Diploma.
